For Simeon
The setting for my dream is that somehow I am aware that it is in the wee hours of the morning, I was in the kitchen, and stood at a counter with some dough on it. I was kneading it. I knew that what I was making was gum as in chewing gum. The scene changed and I understood that it was the next night the scene was on repeat. It was still the wee hours of the morning and I was again kneading dough that was going to become gum but this time I had someone with mea young man who was learning how to make gum and he was watching me.
So I showed him that I had two types of dough. One was pink and one was white. And I showed him the pink dough. I held it up to him for him to inspect closer. And then I put it back down with the white dough and I was kneading them into one lump. No matter what I did, the colors did not bleed into each other. The dough did not completely become pink. Neither did it become white. It had distinct layers of pink and white. I held it up to the young man again to inspect, and I pointed to a pink layer and I said, see here, you can still see the inscription says RB. I proceeded to knead it and that was the end of the dream.
As I waited before the Lord I knew that the two colours of dough represented Jew and Gentile. In my hours of intercession in the night watches I was to pray for the union of Jew and Gentile, into one new man, the mutual blessing of Jew and Gentile, retaining separate identity but united.
When I asked the Lord about the RB label on the dough I heard, repent and believe.
Mark 1:14 Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
So what about gum? Why was it that this dough I was working on actually a recipe for making gum? It surprised me to discover that the balm of Gilead was a balsam resin that was ingested for healing. It was not just used topically on flesh wounds.
From the internet:
The resinous gum of the Balm of Gilead (likely a type of Commiphora or Pistaciatree) was sometimes chewed and is described as tasting like pine resin or lemon. It was known for its aromatic properties and medicinal use in antiquity, as well as for the price of its perfume.
The bottom line: We are meant to chew (meditate) on God’s words. They heal and restore us. Like nothing else can.
